Welcome to one of the largest and most exciting Mini Rugby groups in the country.

We have over 400 players every year, ranging from 4 year olds who play with foam rugby balls, up to 12 year olds who compete at the highest levels including the Nottingham championships. In fact, last years U12s finished their season by playing rugby on the hallowed turf at the Twickenham – which is a fantastic experience for any child (let alone parent).

We train at the club’s Fairmile Lane ground every Sunday of the season from 10am with the U5’s finishing at 11am, the U6’s finishing at 11:30 and the other age groups finishing at 12:00.

The club is open to all players, both girls and boys, of all abilities – from keen novices to budding international stars and we work hard to ensure that players at all levels, from U7 upwards, get the chance to play in competitive rugby representing their club. And all players are supported by a network of Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers and Helpers, many of whom are themselves new to rugby but are keen and committed to learn and help. We have now extended this resource by appointing Coaching, First Aid and Fitness Co-ordinators for the Mini Section to further advance our development.

We also take the protection of our players very seriously and are keen to ensure that all on-field assistance is provided by fully CRB checked personnel.

We are indebted to our Mini sponsors, Savills, who give so much to help us develop. Mini players are proud to wear the Savills name on a shirt that has the same design as the Seniors and Youth sections of the Club.

There are three fundamental criteria by which we play rugby at Cobham:

1) Respect – win, lose or draw anyone from Cobham is expected to show respect for the officials, for the opposition and for each other.

2) Commitment – when you join Cobham Rugby as a player, parent or supporter, it is implicit that you will do whatever you can to support the development of the players and the club.

3) Enjoyment – It is essential that at whatever level of rugby a player achieves, that they enjoy themselves. Rugby is an exciting, demanding spectacle that all involved should find rewarding.

But there is also a busy social programme at Cobham that culminates in the Summer Ball which in June 2007 saw nearly 500 partygoers wine and dine the night away at Sandown Park - and a great night was had by all.

So, dust off your boots, get out that tracksuit and come down to the ground and lend a hand…we look forward to welcoming you to Cobham Rugby Club.
